Humanities is comprised of the subjects of geography and history and is vital in supporting pupils to understand the world around them through the learning of different languages, histories, cultures, and geographical phenomena. At Hampton Vale we have designed a robust humanities curriculum that has clearly laid out knowledge and skills for each subject area, but designed topics that incorporate both subjects across school.
Our humanities curriculum is designed to take our pupils on a voyage around the world. They will learn about topics such as The United Kingdom, China, The Victorians, Brazil: Rainforest Receding, The Greeks, The Mayans & Modern Mexico, as well as USA: Democracy & Equality. Throughout each topic strands such as leadership, diversity, place knowledge and historical and geographical enquiry run through the learning meaning that pupils are able to make links between prior learning and draw upon their existing knowledge in order to make meaningful comparisons.
