Honouring Our Local Community: A Special Visit from Olympic Gymnast Louis Smith!

Hampton Vale Primary Academy was delighted to welcome Olympic gymnast Louis Smith for a very special assembly as part of Black History Month and this year’s theme, ‘Honouring Our Communities’.

Louis captivated our pupils as he shared his inspiring journey, talking about his life, his incredible achievements as an Olympic gymnast and his experience winning Strictly Come Dancing! The children were fascinated to hear about his experiences and were thrilled to have the opportunity to see his Olympic medals up close.

Our pupils had prepared some fantastic questions for Louis, demonstrating their curiosity and enthusiasm throughout the visit. They also showcased their creativity by producing beautiful artwork, portraits and heartfelt thank-you letters to express their appreciation for this memorable experience.

The visit was a wonderful opportunity for our children to learn about the importance of dedication, determination and hard work, while celebrating the achievements of someone who has made such a significant contribution to sport and our local community.

A huge thank you to Louis for taking the time to visit Hampton Vale Primary Academy and inspire our pupils! It was a truly memorable experience and a fantastic way to celebrate the achievements of people in our community, encouraging the next generation to believe in themselves, aim high and dream big.
