Citizenship

The citizenship area of the curriculum encompasses PSHE, RE and Forest School. At Hampton Vale it is one of our key aims to ensure that all pupils have a deeper understanding of the world around them, and they are equipped with the necessary knowledge they will need to be successful citizens of the future.

The five fundamental British Values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those of different faiths and beliefs are taught explicitly within this area of the curriculum, and we believe as a school that this is fundamental to ensuring all pupils understand these themes as they grow older and prepare to contribute successfully to society. Within this area of the curriculum we also teach our pupils about protected characteristics, and why prejudice in any form should not be tolerated. This feeds directly into our school equality objectives which form a vital part of our school ethos.
