Engineering and Technology

Within this area of our curriculum we teach pupils science, digital technology and DT. We aim to provide an education that encourages critical thinking, teaches pupils how to use technology for a variety of different purposes, give children a deeper understanding of the natural world around them through their learning in science, as well as teach pupils vital life skills.

Engineering and technology moves at a fast pace, and we fully recognise that technological and scientific enhancements mean that our curriculum has to go beyond teaching pupils about technology that is relevant today. To do this, you will see that strands such as coding, using technology to tackle a problem, and knowing how to use technology safely form an important foundation within this area of our curriculum.

Similarly within our science curriculum you will see that through building up a body of key foundational knowledge and concepts, pupils are able to recognise the power of rational explanation and develop a sense of excitement and curiosity about natural phenomena. They should be encouraged to understand how science can be used to explain what is occurring, predict how things will behave, and analyse causes.
